My first indie game is out today.  Made with 2 and a bit people.  All the art is mine, code by the excellent James Trubridge.  Music by the fabulous Leavon Archer. We had a blast miking our first game and hope it will be the first of many.

It was a very tough decision but Tanuki Forest is free.  It does not spam or harass you either, we just wanted to get it to as many people as possible.  If you enjoy the game you can purchase the 'kami-doubler' in the games shop as a way of chucking a few pence our way.

I hope you enjoy playing it! Please do spread the word.

little studies

I have been going out to do plein air studies lately.  A few of these are from photos but 90% are painted from life outdoors.  Watercolour is as brutal as ever.  They are about 15-20 mins a piece and are tiny images (3x5 or smaller).  Trying to nail the broad statement and failing :)  These are such a great learning experience. I will keep going and see where they take me.

This last one was painted just as it went dark.  I had to stop because i could no longer see my paper! The bright green is an artificially illuminated football field.

I have still been doing some digital ones too.  These are much less painful :)  Most are after other artists.

Thanks for looking!

studies

I had the pleasure of attending the Schoolism Nathan Fowkes workshop in London a few weeks back. Nathan's talk was more than inspirational.  One thing he talked about was studies.

I decided I would make a start on doing my own.  Most of these are from my own photographs although a few are from internet ref/other painters.  My focus is on getting the simple statement down so they are devoid of detail.  These have been so much fun to do.  I am also starting to get a bit of a feel for how to subtly design whilst working from ref.  It only takes a few strokes with the right direction to make a piece much more interesting to the eye.

Next week I am going plein air painting one evening to start up some traditional media ones too.
